‘And just knowing how much it helped me I then started volunteering my time to fellow colleagues in the police service who were experiencing PTSD. I started noticing the shift and change in them after a session with them. And I began to recognise then the power and efficacy of allowing the body to slow down and detach from the mental racing around and chatter, and reconnect with our body, activate that parasympathetic nervous system to then activate their relaxation response. And so, over the years it’s just been a constant refinement of changing and shifting and adapting different core components of yoga and that sort of lead me to where I am today. And I’ve developed quite an effective therapy called Accelerated Relaxation Therapy.’ ~ Hayley Robinson
Former Queensland Police Officer turned Therapeutic Yoga Practitioner, Hayley Robinson has developed a unique therapeutic approach in facilitating the body back into the relaxation response via targeting the nervous system and the mind-body connection.
Drawing upon her lived experiences with anxiety, ADHD, an auto-immune disease and an array of life events, Hayley now channels her life learnings into a passion fuelled purpose, helping others attain a state of calm relaxation.
This is a beautiful open, real and raw conversation with beautiful Hayley about the hardships and stressors in life and what is required to counter them. Hayley shares her story openly from being a police officer , overwhelm and loss to being a yoga teacher, an accelerated relaxation therapy, coach and mentor. ‘Again, my ego was pretty up there, and I was pretty full of myself with all of these wonderful things I was doing for people. Anyway, this guy called George comes up to me and he used to drink at the pub, and he said how good I was, and then he said, ‘I’ve got good news, my daughter’s met someone at Endeavour and they’re going to get married.’ And I was thinking to myself, why is he telling me this? And he had tears in his eyes, and I said, ‘What’s the matter George?’ And he said, ‘His parents had quite a bit of money and they’ll set them up in a Unit, and now I can die without having to worry about my daughter.’ And he said, ‘As you know people with kids with disabilities, that’s the thing they’re scared of… dying wondering who’s going to look after them?’ And it was that moment that I changed the way I think about what I was doing. And it was more that I had the opportunity to help people because of where I was not to beat my own chest about how good I was. And it went on from there, that conversation was a catalyst for a lot of change in me, in regards to the way I thought about things and the reason why I want to do things.’ And the reason why I want to do things now, is to help people.’ ~ Ashley Robinson
This is a big conversation about the tapestry of one man’s life, the highs and lows, the wins and losses, the challenges and struggles. Mental wellness is a huge topic for us all and Ashley Robinson has been confronted with many moments that have challenged his beliefs on what that means to the core. This deep, open and very real conversation is about how to use challenges to raise awareness of looking out for your own welfare and then investing your energy in helping others.
ASHLEY Robinson, the Sunshine Coast businessman and sports leader who has spent much of his life contributing to the community, who recently campaigned to the next mayor of the Sunshine Coast. Ashley has four decades of business experience across the hospitality and community enterprise sectors and an impressive record of community service that saw him awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2016.
He has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in funds for community groups and those less fortunate, while also spending five years as chair of the Community Gaming Benefit Fund which distributes $15 million a quarter to community organisations across Queensland.
The Wurtulla father of two sons was born on a Eudlo pineapple farm and has built a powerful understanding of the region through his ongoing involvement in sport, community service, advocacy for men’s health and quiet generosity to those in need. Ashley is affectionately and widely known as ‘Tugboat’ in recognition of the dependable, steady strength he brought to his rugby league playing days and then to his roles as a business manager and community service.
Born in Nambour Hospital on December 10, 1957, Ashley is one of a rare group who can claim to be a born-and-bred Sunshine Coast local. His dad Len was a pineapple farmer who, with his wife Edna, raised two boys – Ashley and his older brother Lindsay. Ashley says growing up on the farm at Eudlo was full of happy memories.
Ashley played Australian rules as a youngster, before taking up rugby league in high school. He became captain of the Nambour High team before playing for Souths and All Whites. After a season in Perth, during which he made the Western Australia team, he returned to the Coast and played with Souths again, before beginning a 10-year stint with Maroochydore, interspersed with a season in Longreach in 1981. He was in his mid-20s when he met his wife Sheila during a night out at Mooloolaba Surf Club in 1983. He realised he had found “the perfect woman” when she offered cold beer and fresh seafood for dinner after their first date.
She already had two boys – Brendan and Lucas – who Ashley quickly accepted as his own. It was, he says, the turning point in his life.
“Sheila’s made an enormous difference to my life,” he said. “She’s a very strong woman, though she pretends not to be,” he said. “We’ve been married 40 years and I’ve been blessed to have her.”
Together they are also strong advocates for animal welfare, an involvement that saw him made a Life Member of Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge Society.
Ashley is an inductee to the Sunshine Coast University Sports Hall of Fame, the Sunshine Coast Rugby League Hall of Fame and is a life member of the Sunshine Coast Rugby League.
In 2016, Ashley’s community work was recognised with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) – something that doesn’t sit comfortably with him.
“I get a bit embarrassed about that sort of thing because it’s the network of people you’ve got around you that allows you to do stuff to help people. The people who are helping you are the ones who should be getting the credit.”
His definition of Self Love is: I don’t really know but if I add all things up… I used to go to sleep wishing I was a famous footy player, then I used to dream of winning $40million wishing I was rich. Now I go to sleep wishing I could win $40million so I could give half of it away. My self-love is dead-set focused on helping other people, because it helps me.
His favourite quote is:It’s nice to be important, but it’s far more important to be nice.

Cam Best is a proud father of three children, husband to Sarah, and healthy kids advocate. Cam’s passion and mission is to inspire the youth of Australia to get outside, be active, and nourish their bodies with Sunshine Food. Cam founded the ‘Movement & Role Model Program’ for NDIS funded kids and created the ‘Juiced Up Living Show’ which has been showcased in hundreds of schools throughout Queensland.
This is an incredible conversation around the intentional accidents in life and how one man’s life was steered towards constantly towards growing and evolving and making healthier living fun and exciting for kids. Cam’s story will delight, inspire and encourage you to live life out loud and trust the guiding light that brings you to living your best life no matter how many hurdles or challenges seem to get in the way.

‘It’s been a challenge and there has been of course, dark days. I even had to write a letter to my three kids, because the second time I never thought I would make it. So, I am so blessed. And that’s why everyone to me is so precious. I call them precious because I know they are precious to me. And sometimes I can’t remember their names, but life is precious and that’s why I say to everyone, ‘Just go out and live it today, because you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, and we are blessed to be here.’ ~ Wendy Barnes
A twin, a black belt, a speaker and a cover girl, this week’s guest Wendy Barnes is one extraordinary soul. Competitive in spirit and wanting to travel, this woman was living her best life. She was training for the Mooloolaba Triathlon in 2008 when suddenly she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and her world stopped. She navigated and survived the highs and lows. And then, much to her dismay, five years later she was diagnosed again. In today’s episode we get to hear this extraordinary woman speaking from the soul, inspiring and reminding us all to live life out loud and appreciate how precious life is.
Her definition of Self Love is so much about putting yourself number one. Believing in yourself, taking time out, do what you want to do. Live your life not no one else’s. Surround yourself with like-minded people. Love yourself. Stay in your own lane and keep reaching for your own dreams and no one else’s.

‘I think the worst advice I got was to trust everyone else’s advice. The financials aren’t going to be my strongest point, I’m not an accountant and obviously you’re always going to listen to your bookkeeper or someone providing financial assistance, but they still don’t know it all, they still don’t know your business as thoroughly as you do. So, while they may make recommendations that is based purely on finances, they don’t know your customers, they don’t know what you’re capable of if you absolutely have to make a sale. So, I think being 100% guided by someone else, even though it’s their expertise, you’ve still just got to trust your gut, trust your gut instinct. Because no one knows your business like you do.’ ~ Alison Bell
When Alison Bell retired as a professional tennis player, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in either the fitness or health industries… She may have taken a while to get here, but now that she’s arrived, she is completely in her element!After suffering from her own injuries during her sporting career – and recovering from subsequent surgeries, Alison has a genuine understanding and appreciation of the importance of a speedy recovery.
After being diagnosed and living with hashimoto’s disease, lupus, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and a leaky gut, Alison truly understands what it is to be unwell, and has found bone broth to be an integral part of her healing. She swears by it!
“Bone broth just works! I’ve sipped it through many colds and flus and am still amazed at how quickly it can prevent that slightly off feeling from progressing to a full-blown illness. I feed it to my entire family when flu season hits! I’ve taken it for muscular aches and pains as well as joint injuries to help recovery. And of course, for the big kahuna – gut health. As we learn more about the gut and its microbiome, the more we realise how incredibly important its health is for not only physical ailments but also mental health. ‘I know we call things accidents but truly I don’t beleive that they’re accidents. I believe somehow energetically we have created them. So, if you’re in a car accident and you’re going too fast, or someone is going too fast and you crash, I think everything is a mirror. So, where in your life are you going too fast? Are you rush, rush, rushing the whole time? Where is your energy rushing? Or where are you losing control in your life? Have you lost control of your car, is a reflection potentially of where you have lost control in your life. Or if something else breaks down, where else in your life are things breaking down? I think everything is a reflection. So, once you get through the feelings or the grief in that real self-reflection, how did I even create this? How did this even come about in my life? Because it’s not a coincidence that this has happened, and what potentially can come of this? I believe hand on heart that the Universe is always nudging us towards our highest purpose.’ ~ Sarah Best

In addition to her paramedic career, Sarah is a qualified Health Coach through Integrative Nutrition, a Reiki Master, and a qualified NLP and Time-Line Therapy Practitioner.
Married to her husband Cam, who is the owner and founder of Juiced Up Groms, Sarah is also a devoted mother to three children: Harry, Phoebe, and Charlie.
Sarah’s journey is purposeful, driven by her recognition of gaps in the healthcare system and her belief in the multifaceted nature of healing beyond western medicine. Personal experiences, including parenting a child with severe anxiety and supporting her husband through a severe work accident in 2018, have deepened her commitment to holistic healing.
Facing a significant change with the vaccine mandate, Sarah pivoted towards her passion for healing and coaching, founding her business, Best Life Holistic Health. Her mission is to guide clients from merely surviving to thriving, with a particular focus on assisting children with anxiety or high emotional needs, along with supporting their parents.
Sarah shares an amazing journey of triumph over tragedy and how to survive all storms of life with courage, grace, strength and dignity. She is someone who has learned to step into the fire and rise above and beyond. Her passion for health and wellness is exemplified through her knowledge as a paramedic and scientist as well as her love for Reiki and NLP has helped form her practice Best Life Holistic Health.
Her definition of Self Love is about coming back to listening to your inner voice. Not the negative one, the whispers from the heart, from your soul, your highest purpose. Listen to your soul, the true essence of you.
