Quotes:
The experiences I have had a genuinely amazing in regards to leadership
I enjoyed the experience but not necessarily what I was doing
This was a massive turning point in my life
Need to get out of this relationship and find something else to do
You can’t send people into war if you are not willing to go yourself
Don’t screw it up
Wanted my team to be successful and our clients to be happy
Gave me a whole new perspective on life
My emotional side did not kick in for quite a few years
I got paid for 40 hours a week but worked 120
I was disconnected to it all
What might I want to do if I was not immersed in work?
Definitely a turning point in my emotional awareness
I knew it was going to be positive
What have I always wanted to do?
To help to heal
Bring that feeling into my heart and spirit

SLP 196: Self Love Quicky – 20 Questions To Ask Yourself
Thursday Jul 14, 2022
Thursday Jul 14, 2022
If you are some one who is up for making the most of their time on this planet then it is important to take time in your life and assess where you are at, where you have been and where you are going. We all know, in the scheme of things that life is relatively short, and sadly so many do not get to live life out loud or fulfil their hopes and dreams. So here are some questions to take some time, go within and ask yourself.
Now before we get into asking these questions here is something interesting. According to Bronnie Ware author of ‘The Top 5 Regrets Of The Dying’ are:
1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
2. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard
3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends
5. I wish I’d let myself be happier
As you look at those top five regrets perhaps it gives you time now to reflect and ask if any of these are regrets in your life right now and if so, maybe it’s time to do something about it?
Here are 20 deep questions you can take some time to sit down and ask yourself about your life which in doing so may well make life more full, rich and enjoyable.
1. Are you doing what you truly want to do?
2. What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?
3. When was the last time you did something for the first time?
4. Is there anything you cannot let go of, but you know you should?
5. How many promises have you made and how many of them have you fulfilled?
6. When do you truly feel alive?
7. What or who lights you up?
8. Complete this sentence; ‘I wish I had someone with whom I could share…’
9. Do I truly know myself?
10. What is the difference between you and most other people?
11. If you would die now, would you have any regrets?
12. Do you remember anyone you disliked or fell out with 10 years ago? Does it matter now?
13. For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
14. What do you spend too much time doing? What don’t you spend enough time doing?
15. How do you treat people who can do nothing for you?
16. If you were to die this evening, without opportunity to talk to anyone what would you most regret not having told anyone? Why haven’t you told them yet?
17. What is something you love in your life right now that you could not have imagined liking in the past?
18. Are you afraid of making mistakes, even though there is no punishment at all?
19. If today was the end of the world, what would you do?
20. Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be and why?
Self-enquiry and self-reflection are powerful tools to embody your values and live life on your terms. There is no accident you are reading this right now.

SLP 194: Self Love Quicky – ROSE Oil
Thursday Jul 07, 2022
Thursday Jul 07, 2022
The Rose is well renowned for its beauty, grace and exquisite aroma. It was one of the first flowers from which an essential oil was ever distilled way back in the tenth century. It is known as the Queen of essential oils and in this week’s podcast you will see why.
It is a flower that has been highly revered and used throughout history. Perhaps Cleopatra is one of the best examples. The story goes… to lure Mark Antony she had her ship rubbed down in rose wax, the sails dipped in rosewater and hundreds of exquisite rose petals strewn across the bedroom! There is no mistaking its romantic and aphrodisiac virtues.
Known as the ‘Queen of Flowers’, when distilled it is also thought of as the Queen amongst essential oils. Over time it has been used to treat many disorders of the female reproductive system and whilst many essential oils have an affinity for a particular part of the body and it is not surprising that Rose has a particular preference and affinity with the uterus. It is cleansing, purifying and regulating. It is also alluring, enchanting, indulging and nurturing.
In a spritzer rose is a gentle but potent antidepressant. It is excellent to use in times of grief, stress and for emotional wounds. In a massage blend it is an excellent antispasmodic oil and in skincare it is especially valuable for dry, sensitive or ageing skin. It has a tonic and astringent effect on capillaries and on the circulation in general.
Rose oil can be used to calm the nerves, release anger and frustration. The stunning smell of Rose has a way of easing fear, providing comfort for the heart and soul, and can open a doorway into new friendships and relationships.
Mojay (1999) states the rose is the symbol of love. He suggests that it has the capacity to heal emotional wounds, and help nurture and comfort oneself.
To fill a 10ml bottle of rose oil a tonne of rose petals is required. To put that in perspective, it takes between 30 to 60 roses to produce just one single drop of Rose oil.
Rose carries an expensive price tag due to this high quantity and the very high costs involved in its extraction, but then only very little is needed to treat a mental, emotional or physical condition. It is the ultimate self-love oil.
Considered a popular base note, the perfume industry uses more than the world’s annual production of Rose oil, so where does the rest come from? It difficult to detect adulterated Rose Oil, even with gas spectrometry so perhaps the best guide is a trustworthy supplier and your own nose. Just one drop rubbed onto the perfume points is enough to send any nose into a romantic frenzy!
In the Aroma Cards the quote for Rose oil is:
‘Loving myself is easy because I am beautiful, I attract love, joy and happiness into all of my being.’

SLP 193: Valuing The Heart Of Culture with Sandi Morrison
Tuesday Jul 05, 2022
Tuesday Jul 05, 2022
‘For me, the heart of culture, the heart of where do we get our values, how do we make meaning about ourselves, our lives, our communities? How do we build a way of being together that really validates, acknowledges, endorses and celebrates difference? And it’s all in languages, in music, in song, in how we are as people. So, yes, it has been really who a whole part of my life is, because I’ve been an activist, I’ve done a lot of work in social and public policy, I’ve been passionate about community development, building communities and I am totally obsessed with cultural identities and the wonderful things that make up our culture.’ Sandi Morrison
What an absolute delight to interview my dear Mother-in-Law, Sandi Morrison, where we get to delve into the meaning behind our identity, our culture and our indigenous heritage. We discuss the meaning of life and how our values and cultural ties really should matter to every single one of us. We talk about honouring the many different cultures we are now a part of and how we can use our past to appreciate our presence and to evaluate our future.
We dive into topics like the quality of life, building communities, identity, language, culture and what makes meaning? Sandi believes we are at a time in our lives and social history where we really must make this giant leap into a whole new space, a whole new world view. A way of embracing diversity and what it means to be post-Colonial in the most positive sense.
Sandi believes it is imperative we understand our differences. But it is exciting with possibilities for new different pathways that will transcend some of the very negative aspects of the corporate hard line-economy first approach of our culture that has meant we have significant issues. But there are ways forward to solve them.
Sandi understands how human beings are quite resistant to change which comes from an ingrained fear we might lose something or that we may have to embrace something we don’t agree with. But if we can just let the barriers down and be open to explore new ways of being then this is what makes life exciting.
The ability to affect change and raise issues to moderate and mitigate comes from our values. Values are at the heart of esoteric teachings and religions even though they get bound by many man-made structures. And whilst challenging, we only have to look at the USA and see what is happening with democracy to understand the need for awareness and change.
We are in incredibly challenging times and even our own democratic system is quite fragile. But what is so important is that when we do connect together in terms of what matters and have conversations about the values and what we are going to do about the environment or bigger issues and what it means to have a healthy balanced democratic system. We will need to find ways to actually navigate and negotiate the kinds of new worlds we need to build in the 21s Century. And be open to indigeneity and be prepared to explore the ways in which nature, the environment, the seas, the stars, the sun are integrated as a part of their world’s views.
We discuss the impact empathy and compassion has on nations including Jacinta Ardern’s leadership and approach to crisis and tragedy. Her instincts when confronted with anything major, is that she allows herself to feel, and be connected to those affected. It is from that place, good leaders can role model and look for solutions.
If we can be human first, that is where unity lies. We will, we must, we can find ways and platforms and values to unite about what really matters which is what this time has to be about. If everyone participates, we will find solutions.
It is about assessing what matters, what counts and what deserves our priority. It is assessing what are the values that are important to us, in our society, the kinds of things that we want to drive in our systems? We need to find ways to have conversations about discourse, it’s not about arguing but exploring what makes meaning and what matters. What values do we want to underpin society with and what ways we will look after our people?
We need public platforms that are not constantly critical or blaming but open to exploring what matters to us all.
What is key is if we can ask powerful questions to help make a fundamental difference to bringing about positive change. Sandi appreciates how NZ does drive change due to its size. But she also thinks there are other fundamental differences. The Treaty of Waitangi has significant difference (regardless of the controversy) as the intention was all about having a positive relationship to recognise indigenous people of the land.
A combination of what happens in NZ does actually produce innovation, new ideas, world class issues and does drive change.
We talk about the significant time in history when in 2008 then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd apologised to the indigenous people of Australia and how that was so important and positive. To own our past and what has happened, even though we may not be able to restore we can ensure the very best of what is good in life for each other is in place now. It is about committing to this.
In Maori, they say we need to walk backwards into the future. Look back, see the past, learn from the past and know the past and with that you then walk into the future. This is a most positive way to create change and release fear. We need leadership and visionary statements to show that there are ways of being that is better than in the past.
Sandi believes the way to embrace our indigenous culture and history is by having a vision for our community and our country. You want to be able to do something effective that is local, within your family and your community. It is things like events, rituals and things that are happening to allow us all to be together and hear the stories that allow more compassion and understanding.
As an example, there has been a recent opportunity in NZ where the government announced a public holiday called Matariki.
This is all about the Pleiades star clusters where 17,000 years ago there was drawings discovered in caves in France. So, it is not a new phenomenon. It has merely been highlighted to be understood to represent a time in life, in seasons, in NZ, the solstice, the shortest day which is the beginning of that process. It is not entirely new, but it is being presented in a new way to think about.
Matariki is a special occasion in the New Zealand calendar which marks the start of the Māori New Year. Signified by the Matariki cluster of stars reappearing in our night sky, this is a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate the present, and plan for the year ahead.
Traditionally, Matariki was a time to acknowledge the dead and to release their spirits to become stars. It was also a time to reflect, to be thankful to the gods for the harvest, to feast and to share the bounty of the harvest with family and friends.
The stars of Matariki and their genders as recorded by Te Kōkau are identified with particular traits and areas of influence, also reflected in their positions in the star cluster:
The Nine Stars Of Matariki
Māori Latin Gender Provenance
Matariki Alcyone
Female Well-being and health
Tupu-ā-rangi Atlas
Male Food that comes from above
Tupu-ā-nuku Pleione
Female Food that grows in the soil
Ururangi Merope
Male The winds
Waipunā-ā-rangi Electra
Female Rainwater
Hiwa-i-te-rangi Celaeno
Female Growth and prosperity
Waitī Maia
Female Fresh water
Waitā Taygeta
Male The ocean
Pōhutukawa Sterope
Female The deceased
Mata means eyes and ariki means God, so it is about seeing through the eyes of God. Matariki is the star that signifies reflection, hope, our connection to the environment, and the gathering of people. Matariki is also connected to the health and wellbeing of people.
Sandi’s final message is to recognise how truly blessed to live in this time with what is now possible for us, for our children and grandchildren. It is about really opening our hearts and knowing that really the way in which nature, in itself, is the most profound teacher. If we do embrace that then we will find new ways of being and new solutions. It is simplest and most profound ways Nature has all the meanings of whatever form of God you aspire to, it isn’t about religions structures it is not contained and confined by fixed man-made beliefs. It is the living, breathing heart and soul of who we are.
Her final quote, her grace is: Ko au te whenua, te whenua ko au… which translated means:
I am the land. The land is me.

SLP 192: Self Love Quicky – Learning to Respond Not React
Thursday Jun 30, 2022
Thursday Jun 30, 2022
In these turbulent times, many have been conditioned to react immediately. Whilst reacting is not necessarily a bad thing per se, it isn’t always constructive. It can often add to the noise, cause confusion and further angst and hurt. A more effective approach is learning to respond with awareness. And there is a big difference. In this Quicky we also learn how essential oils can support our ability to respond with more intelligence!
Words act as a powerful lens through which we perceive, interpret, and analyse the world. We use words to label and define our people, things, places and experiences. We use words to describe what we think, what we feel, the actions we take, and the interactions we have with others. You might think it is semantics but knowing the difference between a reaction and a response will be a powerful tool in your self-care toolkit.
When we react, many times it is instinctive. We can often react in opposition to a particular situation or person. When we see or hear something we disagree with, our immediate response is to react or act out. Generally, we are reacting. That reaction may not always be favourable, depending on how you feel. Responding, whilst technically a reaction takes into consideration and thought to the desired outcome of the interaction. A reaction may result in a positive or negative outcome – you have no control over it. Whereas a response is engineered to produce a positive or negative outcome thus you have some form of control over what happens.
Reacting is emotional, responding is emotional intelligence.
What happens when we react:
When we react, we engage the body before the brain
Reacting is reactive, impulsive and a reflex action
Reacting often arises from a state of pain, frustration, anger or fear
Reacting is making assumptions, jumping to conclusions
When we react, we are giving away our power and self-control.
When we react, we are being short-sighted and letting our egos get in the way
Reacting is about being problem-oriented
Have you ever reacted to something and later thought ‘oh I should’ve said this and that”? Or even thought, “oh I shouldn’t have said that”? This was you in reaction mode. Nothing wrong wth that, you did the best you could. Now is the time to learn to do better. And we can all learn to do better, a good place to start is by learning to respond rather than react.
If your goal is to get a quick dopamine hit and feel good for reacting, then great, keep doing that. However, we want to be better people. We want to show empathy and understanding of others in this world. Choosing to respond will allow you time to gather facts and supporting information to help you influence others more positively.
There are times when you need to react and react fast. Think in times of danger for yourself or others.
What happens when we Respond:
When we respond, we engage the brain before the body.
When we respond, we are being informed and educated
Responding is putting the ego aside
When we respond, we are in control of ourselves
Responding is about calm and clear communication
Responding is about choosing to see things from all perspectives
Love, respect and empathy are at the heart of responding
Responding is about being solution-oriented
Our essential oils can help you find the support you need to respond. You can call upon Basil to have the mental strength to continue. You can call upon Tea Tree to draw energy by focusing on the positive. Call upon Myrrh to connect to your intuition as it is empowering, and that guidance with grace and ease. Pine will leave you feeling inspired, invigorated, alert and ready for anything. I could, in fact, go through every oil and talk about the metaphysical and emotional guidance it can give you. Suffice to say, use the emotional side of essential oils to support you as you grow, develop skills and learn to respond from a place of love and understanding.
Learning how to respond has been a game-changer for myself and many of my clients. The people in my Self Love and Mentoring group have learned many tools and techniques to help them on their self-love journey, but also new ways to respond to the world in a peaceful and loving way. Remember, a reaction is about the moment whereas a response is about the outcome. Understanding how to respond as opposed to reacting will make you a more empathetic and self-aware person. If you want to influence your team, your family, and your children, the best way to do that is by changing yourself, and learning how you can respond more appropriately when turbulent situations arise.

SLP 191: Embracing Your Second Spring with Dr Suzy McCleary
Tuesday Jun 28, 2022
Tuesday Jun 28, 2022
‘There’s this beautiful concept in Chinese Medicine that is known as your Second Spring. This was something that I was really ‘wow’ like this sounds amazing you get to have everything all about you. So, there’s three phases in Chinese Medicine in a woman’s life and they are what we call; Heavenly Waters which is the beginning of a girl’s period. We then have the Ripening of the Fruit which can be around your fertility and childbirth around that time. And then we have this Second Spring that we all get to enjoy as we move over. They say women in their 30’s are wolves, women in their 40’s are tigers and women in their 50’s are dragons and it’s our life experience that we have that we are more able to express this energy.’ Suzy McCleary
If ever there was a woman who epitomises the desire to grow, expand, learn and educate then Suzy McCleary is it! In this interview we get to talk in depth about Chinese Medicine and the different transitions of a woman’s life. In particular we talk about the Second Spring which is our menopausal years. If you would like to understand this special phase, embrace wrinkles and aging, understand hot flushes and have a great sex life regardless, then this is the interview for you!
Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and former registered nurse Suzy McCleary has an unwavering passion to empower women to use natural techniques and technologies so they smoothly navigate the journey from puberty through menopause without risky medications or debilitating hormonal chaos.
As a healthcare practitioner with over 30 years of experience, and as a wife and mother of 2 beautiful young children Suzy understands the myriad of confusing and frustrating hormonal and emotional challenges young girls and women are left alone to face every day.
Over her career she has witnessed the all too common scenario of smart, health-conscious, women experiencing unexplained anxiety, weight gain, poor sleep and erratic mood swings. And when they reach out to their doctors for help, they are given a myriad of prescription medications that either make their symptoms worse or come with dangerous side effects.
Suzy knows there was a much better and easier way to help these women transition, especially through the perimenopause and menopausal years which are often filled with conflicting emotions and a lot of unknowns.
With a passion for ongoing education Suzy McCleary is also a registered GAPs (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) practitioner, Functional Nutritionist, Hayo’u gua sha practitioner, certified Melillo Method™ provider as well as completed studies in environmental biology.
With this unique experience and expertise, Suzy shines a beacon of light and hope to thousands of women so they can embrace what is known in Chinese Medicine as “The Second Spring” and enjoy a new vitality for life without drugs or feeling like they are going crazy.
Suzy currently has a private practice in Echuca, Victoria along the mighty Murrray river where she lives with her beautiful family.
Her definition of Self Love is a lot to do with self-care but it doesn’t necessarily mean what I am adding in but more about what I am taking out.
Her favourite quote is: ‘Every day is a chance to get better.’

SLP 190: Self Love Quicky – Coming Home
Thursday Jun 23, 2022
Thursday Jun 23, 2022
Just a little insight into what it feels like to be home in New Zealand ~ Aotearoa. After three and a half years my husband Danny and I were able to get back to our homeland. Today I share what it feels like to have my heart in two countries and how important it is to me to have my beautiful business available in both countries too. Blessed to call two countries my home.
It’s a funny thing coming home, it almost feels like nothing changes, everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same and you realise the only thing that has changed is you!

SLP 189: If You Don’t Feel It, Your Body Can’t Heal It with Melissa Holman
Tuesday Jun 21, 2022
Tuesday Jun 21, 2022
‘So, first let’s talk about emotional neuropathy. What is neuropathy? It’s ‘I can’t feel something.’ So, we are talking about not being able to feel emotions. And this is kind of strange in the aromatherapy field because as you said it is a very healing field and most people are very tuned into their intuition. However, I am one of those people who had emotional neuropathy. I didn’t feel things. If something happened, I shut it off and I kept going. So, those are the people that kind of seek me out because I have been there. I know exactly how it feels to shut off part of yourself, so much so that you don’t even feel when you break a bone, which by the way if you break a bone and you don’t feel it, your body can’t heal it.’ Melissa Holman
A wonderful conversation about a woman who has found her calling to support many who struggle with emotional neuropathy. Melissa Holman is a Master Transformational Life Coach, author, speaker, and a Registered Aromatherapist. This deep dive conversation shows many potent ways that plants can help us heal and how we can take responsibility for our own happiness and wellbeing.
She is an Air Force Security Forces Veteran, has been married to a decorated combat veteran since 1991, and currently lives on the tropical island of Guam. She was a stay-at-home, home-schooling mom for 19 years before becoming a Chiropractic Assistant in June 2010 and in May 2018 she earned her Aromatherapy Certificate from the American College of Healthcare Sciences. While working with her clients she discovered that she loves digging deep to uncover the root cause of an issue and continued learning to obtain her Coaching Certification in 2020. She has 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren.
She has served in many capacities in Scouting (Scoutmaster, Committee Member, Wood Badge and Powder Horn staff, and more) and homeschooling (director of a HomeSchool Co-op, youth bagpipe band director and teacher of many classes in and out of the home), she is a quilter, has been the bass drummer in two different bagpipe bands in South Texas- competing at the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, several times. She was the Course Director for Wood Badge, an advanced leadership course, in spring 2012.
At Lemon Balm Coaching, she uses her Aromatherapy skills with men and women who struggle with emotional neuropathy and helps them achieve their dream lives. She uses a holistic, personalized approach with each client and focuses on implementing lifestyle changes and transforming misaligned beliefs to help bring mind, body, and spirit alignment back into their lives.
Melissa says, ‘I’m a firm believer that every single plant is on this planet for our benefit. And inside of each aromatic plant are these chemicals. Our brain is also made up of chemicals. So, there is this beautiful symbiotic relationship between the plants and the human body. And there are plants that interact with different parts of our bodies and our brains that help to open up, reconnect, create new pathways in our brain.’
One final message from Melissa is to know that curiosity over condemnation wins every single day. Be curious in our own mind.
Her definition of Self Love is likening it to romance, and romance is different for everyone. We have to know ourselves to love ourselves, not out of obligation or frustration but from a place of service to them by serving themselves first.
Her favourite quote is from:
To love others well we must first love ourselves.

There are many different ways to use essential oils and one of the best and most effective ways is for the skin. These potent substances are amazing at helping to make you look and feel your best.
Chamomile : Soothes dermal inflammation, relieves allergies, excellent for eczema, dermatitis and burns. The most anti-inflammatory of all the oils. Gently sedating, calming and soothing.
Frankincense : Regenerating and rejuvenating on prematurely aged or mature skin, it is healing and repairing. Comforting and fortifying, deeply relaxing with a drying up effect.
Geranium: Geranium normalises skin imbalances and promotes healing to skin disruptions. It’s great for dry eczema and dermatitis, and helps balance sebum production. A great regulating oil, it brings balance to hormonal change and helps balance mood swings.
Lavender: Lavender is the most nurturing and soothing oil. It is gently sedating, relaxing and calming. An excellent firstaid remedy, it is great for bites and stings, relieves itchiness and irritation, and helps activate the immune system.
It heals scalds, burns and scars, is soothing and healing to dermatitis, and acts as a cell regenerator.
Orange: Orange is cleansing to oily skin, excellent for softening smoker’s skin and hardened skin affected by sun damage. It helps relieve mild headaches and mild insomnia. It is helpful for nervous conditions and is refreshing and uplifting.
Manuka: Manuka is a highly antibacterial oil, excellent for body and skin infections, acne and sensitive skin. It is both healing and soothing and helps stabilize skin conditions. It is one of the most anti-fungal oils.
Rosewood: Soothing and healing, rosewood promotes elasticity deep in the skin and is good for all skin types, especially tired skins in need of a boost. It is also excellent for scars, wounds and wrinkles.
Sandalwood : Sandalwood is soothing to dry and cracked skin and promotes elasticity. It helps strengthen the adrenals and soothes a sore throat. We find it a very strengthening and calming oil.

SLP 187: The Practice Of Non-Striving with Cindy Scott
Tuesday Jun 14, 2022
Tuesday Jun 14, 2022
‘We are in this perpetual pursuit of something. And so, one of my dear friends is a Buddhist and whilst I was in treatment she said, ‘Cindy you are continually striving, when you do practice non-striving?’ And I’m like, ‘What? What do you mean? What is non-striving? Explain.’ Because I didn’t understand that concept at all and what I realised was I never practiced non-striving. I never, prior to cancer, gifted myself time to just stop and be. I did not understand the concept of being, I knew how to do. I was this high-achieving, independent, go-getting kind of chick that would make anything happen that I set my mind to, but tell me how to BE?’ Cindy Scott
A beautiful interview with the amazing Cindy Scott. Looking forward to 2020 her life felt incredibly perfect, and she was ready for an amazing year ahead. However, a massive and shocking setback with a life-threatening illness set her on a journey of questioning and what was her purpose is? What change could she affect? In the perpetual pursuit of something she came to realise the power in non-striving.
It was January 2020 and Cindy’s life was as perfect as anyone could imagine. She had recently moved to paradise, the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia and was getting married in March. She was in great shape, her annual vision board was beautifully created and beaming its shiny promises from the wall of her office.
Her business plan was done. She was set to have the best year of her life at work and play.
And then in one single moment, everything changed. She was getting her annual mammogram and ultrasound, when the sonographer said, “Cindy, you have a lump”. She lay there in disbelief. She could not accept his words.
It felt like she had already been through so much in her life … moving overseas, being bullied, losing a job, getting divorced, having her heart broken, grieving the loss of a loved one and raising her son as a single Mum.
In the span of just a few weeks she was confronted with her second diagnosis of breast cancer, undertook two surgeries, cancelled her wedding, shut down her business, commenced chemotherapy and went into self- isolation with COVID-19.
2020 year was NOTHING like the one she had envisioned!
The impact of all This would cause even the strongest among us to falter. This was huge! Any one of these events might have knocked her off track, but the complex and simultaneous experience of these events was the most profound, truly gruelling and yet, greatest gift of her life.
Cindy has learned that having moments of stillness and getting really quiet in oneself is paramount. Learn to get acquainted with self and to like oneself. Love being in your own company. Take care of oneself. Self-care is an amazing practice for self-love. She has written the book, ‘The Healing Journey’ and hopes that these kinds of conversations will help many others.
About Cindy:
Cindy Scott is Canadian born and has spent half of her life living in Australia. She has a son who has been her greatest life achievement. She is very familiar with navigating challenges and managing change; the perfect training ground to empower and enable others.
She is an author, speaker, coach and creator, passionate about women’s empowerment, leadership, resilience, emotional intelligence and well-being.
She is a multi-passionate entrepreneur utilizing her unique blend of talents and experience to empower women to see their potential, navigate life’s major transitions and take proactive steps to living a vibrant, beautiful, purposeful life.
Cindy is the Founder and CEO of Evolving Women Co, a platform for women who are experiencing change and uncertainty and seeking sanctuary to take pause, to breathe {deeply}, skill-up and flourish.
A former corporate leader, human resources professional, leadership development consultant, facilitator and certified Executive Coach for some of Australia’s foremost leaders and companies and creator of her signature women’s leadership program, Strive; Real Women, Real Power. She holds a degree and post-grad in health science and human resource management and is a certified and seasoned coach.
Her definition of Self Love is self-acceptance and loving and appreciating herself for who I am. It is about self-care and having healthy relationships, managing stress, honouring your body with good food and movement and to nurture oneself. It is honouring and loving oneself. It is having awareness of self, the good, bad and the ugly.
The stats show that one in two people will get cancer by 85years of age. Australia has the highest incidence of breast cancer in the world. One in seven women will get breast cancer, that’s 55 women a day will get breast cancer. Nutrition, movement, mindset, stress management, repressed emotions and even EMF’s and chemicals into and onto the body.
Cindy believes self-care is the greatest medicine, it is the best investment you can make in you. Let go of the guilt. Make self-care part of our regular routine.
Her favourite quote is from herself… Just do you!

SLP 186: Self Love Quicky – If I Could Change The World Poem
Thursday Jun 09, 2022
Thursday Jun 09, 2022
In this ever changing world we may feel like we need to change it further. Here is a poem I wrote reminding all of us to be the change you want to see. I hope you enjoy it.
If I Could Change The World
When I was young and free
I dreamed of changing the world
I wanted it to be perfect
But I was just a spirited girl.
As I grew older and wiser
I learned the world would not change
So my sights narrowed and shortened
And my beliefs did the same.
But something deep inside
Knew that there had to be a way
Where the vicious cycle could be broken
And that change could forge the way
So I decided with my country
I would start by changing it
I would stand more for the people
And make us feel more proud of it.
But as the time went on
I got discouraged and sick of trying
It seemed too big an ask
To keep a united spirit from dying.
In a last desperate attempt
As I reached my twilight years
I settled for changing my family
To let them see how much I cared.
But alas, all those close to me
Saw no need to change at all
It was their right to live their life their way
And experience each rise and fall.
And now I lie on my deathbed
The penny drops and I realise
If only I had changed myself
I think that would have been more wise.
All my thoughts and actions
Could have helped the next generation
On all of those around me
I could have been an inspiration.
I might have changed my family
A fuller life they could have sampled
I may have been a greater role model
Their mentor leading by example.
Imagine then the impact
If I alone had made some changes
It may have had a ripple effect
And created more healthy, loving exchanges.
Then each family could stand united
Teach pride in every boy and girl
I may have bettered our country, and who knows?
I may have changed the world…
